About Aerie Waters Apothecary
Aerie Waters Apothecary grew from a season of profound change.
For years, I lived the way many of us do—working too hard, ignoring mounting stress, and trusting that if I simply kept pushing forward, everything would eventually balance itself out.
Then my body forced me to stop.
After years of unexplained illness, I eventually learned that I had been living with untreated Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections. I also discovered that years of mold and lead exposure had left my body carrying burdens that made healing more difficult. The journey back to health has been neither simple nor linear, but it taught me lessons I wish I had learned much earlier: that rest is productive, that chronic stress carries a cost, and that healing often happens as much through dozens of small choices as any one dramatic solution.
I began paying attention to things I had once dismissed as luxuries I was too busy for: like time outdoors, bare feet on the earth, and small daily rituals that helped me feel grounded in my body. My health journey changed many things, including the way I think about the products I use every day.
As I learned more about environmental exposures and ingredient safety, I started paying closer attention to what I was putting on my skin, breathing in my home, and using every day without a second thought. I don’t believe every synthetic ingredient is harmful or unnecessary nor do I believe that “natural” automatically means better. But I do believe that thoughtful choices about ingredients in our daily products matter. Modern life exposes us to an extraordinary number of substances previous generations never encountered, often from multiple sources at once. While our bodies are remarkably resilient, I suspect those cumulative burdens matter—especially during times of chronic stress, illness, poor sleep, or other challenges.
That belief has led me toward simpler formulations, thoughtful ingredient choices, careful sourcing, and a greater appreciation for giving the body what it needs through natural means whenever practical rather than constantly asking it to adapt to one more thing.
Aerie Waters Apothecary was born from those realizations but also from a much older thread in my life: a lifetime love of gardening and fascination with the natural world. Long before I was sick, I was growing herbs and exploring a curiosity about the relationship between people and plants, food and well-being, and the countless ways nature supports our lives. Inspired by the tidal forests, sunlit fields, and waterways of Virginia’s Northern Neck, I now create small-batch herbal preparations, botanical skin care, and ritual goods made with care, curiosity, and respect for both nature and the people who use them.
Thank you for joining me.
